You've invested in a premium custom controller — here's how to keep it performing and looking its best for years to come.
Daily Habits
Clean Hands, Clean Controller
The number one enemy of custom controllers is oil and grime from your hands. Simple rule: wash your hands before gaming sessions. This alone will extend the life of your grips, buttons, and shell finish dramatically.
Storage Matters
Don't just toss your controller on the couch. Use a controller stand or the original box. Keep it away from:
Direct sunlight (fades custom colors)
Extreme heat (warps plastic)
Dusty surfaces (clogs buttons)
Weekly Cleaning Routine
What You'll Need
Microfiber cloth
Isopropyl alcohol (70%)
Cotton swabs
Compressed air can
Step-by-Step
Power off the controller completely
Compressed air around buttons, triggers, and thumbstick bases to blow out dust
Dampen (not soak) the microfiber cloth with isopropyl alcohol
Wipe down the shell, avoiding any open seams
Cotton swabs dipped in alcohol for around buttons and crevices
Dry with a clean microfiber cloth
Let it air dry for 5 minutes before use
Thumbstick Care
Custom thumbsticks — especially those with performance grips — need extra attention:
Rotate your thumbsticks occasionally to distribute wear evenly
Clean the base where the stick meets the controller
Replace thumbstick covers every 6-12 months if you game heavily
What NOT to Do
Never submerge your controller in liquid
Never use harsh chemicals (bleach, acetone, etc.)
Never force buttons if they feel stuck — contact us for support
Never open the controller yourself — this voids the warranty
LED Maintenance
If your build includes LED mods:
LEDs are rated for 50,000+ hours — they'll outlast the controller
If an LED flickers, it's likely a loose connection — contact our support team
Avoid leaving LEDs on max brightness when not in use to preserve battery life
